So, if you missed out on getting to see Na Rósaí last week, you have another chance! It's $15 for adults, $10 for students, and kids 10 and under are free. If you'd like to know more about Na Rósaí, their website is here. The link to the Facebook event for the concert is here. Third Fridays are Portland Ceilis, so if you're going over the mountains this weekend, you should definitely consider stopping by. This month's ceili should be extra fun too because it's a costume ceili (not required, but encouraged).
The lesson starts at 7:30pm. The dancing goes from 8 to 11pm. It's being held at the Norse Hall (111 NE 11th Avenue in Portland, OR). It's $12 general admission or $8 for Portland Ceili Society (PCS) Members. For more information there the Facebook event or PCS's website. Ceili on! Every third Friday there's a Celtic Music Session at Dudley's, a local bookstore right here in Bend.
For those who don't know what a session is, it's a group of musicians getting together to play music, usually in a public place, but sometimes in a house. They claim a corner, make a circle and play. The goal is for them to have fun playing music and for the other people there to enjoy the music as background noise. Only if someone is singing is it expected that you quiet down and listen. If you'd like to join in the session, grab and chair and join the circle. If you'd like to dance, you can do that too. So come on down to Dudley's (135 NW Minnesota Avenue) at 6:30 tonight to play, dance or listen to some excellent music! Since it's Griff posting this, I'm a bit late. Tomorrow morning at 11:15, the Ceili of the Valley Society (CVS) is doing a ceili flash mob at the Salem Saturday Market. It looks like a lot of fun, and I really wish I could go. Anyone who wants to be involved should meet at the Employment building at 875 Union Street. Here is the link if you want more information. Ceili on!
Second Friday ceilis take place in Salem, Oregon. We've reposted their poster with most of the information you'll want directly below. But, if you want even more information, their website is here.
Sam Keator's 2nd Saturday Community Concert series is kicking off this year with Na Rósaí, a trad (traditional) band that plays Irish, Scottish, Appalachian and Breton music. They sound really fun (you can listen to some of their music here). The concert is on October 10th at 7:30pm at Winona Grange #271 8340 SW Seneca Street in Tualatin, OR. For more information here's the Facebook event. And here's the link for tickets. Hey everybody,
We thought it might be useful to have a page for sharing Irish events other than just ours. We'll mostly be posting events taking place in Oregon, but we might do some farther afield too. Ceili on! |
