Sean-Nós Workshop

Please join us for a Sean-nós workshop with guest instructor Maldon Meehan!

What is sean-nós dance? Sean-nós or "old style" dancing is percussive, improvisational, and playful. In this hands-on, foot-to-floor workshop we'll begin with simple movements and rhythms, working towards building your own improvised steps in a small space, just as dancers did on the tops of whiskey barrels or cottage half-doors. Expect laughter, creativity, and a deep connection to the pulse of Irish music.

Maldon Meehan is the premier teacher and scholar of Irish set and sean-nós dancing in Oregon. She offers classes in the Portland area, and created the first instructional DVD on sean-nós dance, which sold globally. We are thrilled to have her come and teach in Eugene!

What: Weekly céilí dance class 
When: Tuesdays from 7 to 8:15pm, September 16th to November 18th (10 weeks)
Where: Amazon Community Center, Building C (2700 Hilyard St in Eugene)
Price: $50 in-district, $62.50 out of district

Register through Eugene Recreation! 

Drop-in classes are $8 per person
