About Us
Shannon (aka The Mouse)
Hi! My name is Shannon. I've been céili dancing for 16 years (as of Halloween), and I love it! I've been teaching céili for about four and a half years.
I also do English Country Dance, Irish step dance, Zumba, and a little bit of Scottish Country Dance, Swing, Hip Hop, Waltz and Bachata. My favorite things, besides céili dancing, are reading, photography, and traveling. |
Griff (aka The Moose)
Hello! My name is Griff. I've been doing céili for 15 years, and I sincerely hope to do at least another 60. I was dragged to my first céili by Shannon, and have skipped merrily along with her to each one since. I also have about four and a half years of teaching experience and can't wait to get more!
I've also done about seven years of Tap, three of English Country Dance, one of Ballet and Irish step dance, some Swing, Hip Hop, Waltz, and Bachata. My favorite non-dancing things are video games, table-top roleplaying games, games in general, sword fighting, cooking, and exploring. |
Why Frolicking Meese?
Because Dancing Meese was taken. No, really. I often use 'mouse' as part of my usernames (also, I really love Minnie Mouse) and Griff often uses 'moose' as part of his. 'Meese' is a fake plural for both of those animals. Plus, it's silly and cute.
We started this class because we both love céili dancing. We had had several people (I'm looking at you Jennifer and Sam) suggest that we teach classes in Bend since all the other céili groups in Oregon are on the other side of the Cascades. Up until summer 2015 we'd been too busy taking dance classes to teach any, but once our other classes ended we looked at each other and said, "What now?"
Those suggestions had been percolating and we decided to give it a go. Originally, we were just going to teach for the summer, but we've enjoyed it so much we decided to continue. After a three-year hiatus, we restarted Céili Class in Eugene, Oregon. We hope to have you in class soon!
