♫ O céili dance, o céili dance
How lively are thy jig steps ♫ Details on the poster below or at Ceili of the Valley's website. ♫ On the seventh of December Sam Keator gave to me... A céili in a pear tree! ♫
Well... kind of. There isn't actually a pear tree. But there is a céili at the Winona Grange (8340 SW Seneca St) on December 7th. The doors open at 7pm and a dance lesson will follow shortly afterwards. The live music and dancing with last until 11pm (with a break for snacks in the middle). It's $12 per person or $10 for students and seniors. In the spirit of the season, the December Tualatin céili is also a food drive for the Tualatin School House Pantry, so don't forget your donations! Hope to see you there! Here's a link to the Facebook event and to IrishPDX's page in case you'd like more info. Hey friends, Bend Community Contra's first dance of the season is this Friday, October 13th, at Pine Forest Grange (63214 Boyd Acres Rd, Bend, OR 97701)! There's a half hour lesson beginning at 7pm and then live music and dancing from 7:30 on. It's $8/person, $6/students, and $20/family. Here's their website for more info: http://www.bendcontradance.org/ It's session time again! This Friday, August 17th, is the Dudley's Celtic Music Session. It's a free (though it's nice to buy a book or a treat to support the wonderful hosts) opportunity to listen to some wonderful tunes. Starting at around 6, local musicians will play and sing and sometimes even dance. It's a wonderful time and we highly recommend it!
Altan is an Irish music band that plays everything from old songs to jigs and reels. We've even used a couple of their songs for Ceili Class. In an excellent display of taste, the Sisters Folk Festival is bringing them in as part of their Free Summer Concert Series. This Thursday (tomorrow) they will be playing in Fir Street Park starting at 6:30. Bring a blanket or a chair and enjoy! Hope to see you there. #meesesighting
